Welcome!
This is the site for Wildlife Mapping information for the Historic Rivers Chapter of the Virginia Master Naturalists.
Wildlife Mapping is an outreach program for collecting wildlife-related information that will be available to everyone in Virginia. It is sponsored by the Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries.
The focus is in three areas:
- Stewardship through promoting public involvement in the management of our state's wildlife resources,
- Education/Outreach by informing the public about the wildlife resources of the Commonwealth, and
- Citizen Science by complementing survey, monitoring and research efforts in the Commonwealth and providing distributional data on a variety of species.
Our Chapter promotes Wildlife Mapping by
- providing Wildlife Mapping Training to its members and the public and
- sponsoring Wildlife Mapping data collection sites in cooperation with our Chapter sponsors and other local interests.
